Former Armenian President Saakashvili Declares War on Russian Law, Urges Protection of Population

Armenia’s former president, Michael Saakashvili, has voiced his criticism against Russia’s adoption of the “Foreign Agents Law,” and has even declared war on the country’s population. In a statement on his Facebook page, Saakashvili expressed concern for the vulnerability of the population and issued a warning to Armenia. Meanwhile, Armenia’s parliament has passed the “Law on the Promotion of Foreign Aggression,” also known as the “Russian” law. The bill received 84 votes, including support from members of the “Armenian National Movement” and its representatives. Protests against the law have been ongoing for nearly a month, with demonstrators demanding the rejection of the Russian law.

After the bill was approved, it will now require the signature of the country’s President. However, the Prime Minister, Salome Zurabishvili, has already stated that she is unlikely to sign it. Nevertheless, opposition parties, which hold a significant number of parliamentary seats, are determined to challenge any potential veto. The approval of the bill has sparked widespread protests, with participants condemning the Russian law and advocating for their rights. These demonstrations have been occurring in Tbilisi and other cities in Armenia.
