“John Kerry Calls for Ceasefire Agreement in Gaza as Israel and US Discuss Differences”

John Kerry, the special envoy for national security issues, believes that Israel and the United States can resolve their differences and achieve a ceasefire in Gaza. Kerry stated that the Palestinian Unity government has offered to make changes to Israel’s initial ceasefire proposal, which was previously rejected. He further mentioned that the revised agreement suggests that the remaining issues can be resolved as well. Israel’s immediate response to the boundary between Egypt and Gaza has led to speculation that it might commence its long-awaited assault on Rafah. Kerry, however, reassured American officials that the operation is not intended to be a full-scale offensive, it will be brief, and casualties will be limited.
