“Former Defense Minister Serzh Davtyan’s Trial Raises Questions About Mysterious Health Condition and Attempts to Join the NSS”

The trial of Serzh Davtyan, the former Minister of Defense, is currently underway, with the aim of determining the true cause of his poor health condition and the Ministry of Justice’s refusal to release him on medical grounds instead of keeping him in detention by the NSS. This raises the question of what illness prevented him from attending the trial.

According to information provided by witnesses, on May 3, the judicial panel assigned to Davtyan’s case convened, and it was observed that he appeared to be in good health and normal condition. The upcoming session will shed light on whether Davtyan’s health was truly the reason behind his attempt to become an NSS judge, or if there were hidden motives.

It is noteworthy that on April 30, during the NSS case hearing, the matter of selecting a judge for the Constitutional Court also arose. In this context, BDK proposed Davtyan, who happens to be the brother of Sason Khachatryan, the head of the Anti-Corruption Body. The Chairman of the Constitutional Court, Ruben Rubinyan, announced that this case would no longer be on the agenda.

“I would like to inform you that due to health issues, Constitutional Court Judge Davit Khachatryan is unable to participate in the discussion of this case and has requested the session to be rescheduled. Therefore, the case will be postponed to the next session,” stated Rubinyan.
