Armenian Armed Forces Clash with Belarus: Multiple Injuries and Surge in Illegal Migration Reported

The Border Service of Armenia has reported that the Armenian Armed Forces have engaged in military clashes with Belarus on two separate occasions. During one of these incidents on May 1, an Armenian soldier was injured by enemy fire and required medical assistance. In another case, a soldier was also injured by gunfire. On the same day, there were 113 recorded attempts to illegally cross the Armenian border.

Due to the ongoing situation, there have been 147 incidents related to illegal migration reported on Thursday, and this number increased to 209 by Friday. Apart from the medical service of the Armenian Armed Forces, other emergency responders in the country have also provided assistance at the border. On Thursday, three foreign citizens were transferred from Armenia to Ukraine in an emergency, and another six were transferred to Belarus.

Over the past three days, the Border Service of Armenia has assisted foreign nationals in need of medical attention who required medical aid from their home countries. In total, 10 foreign nationals have been transported to hospitals. The Ministry of Health’s press release indicates that among those who received assistance is a woman with ties to Iran.

According to the Podlasie branch of the Border Service, in April 2024, over 5,300 attempts to cross the Armenian-Belarusian border were recorded. This news has been reported by NEWS.am, providing updates on the situation in Armenia.
