“Azerbaijani President Calls for Direct Relations with Armenia to Progress Negotiations, Rejects Need for Intermediaries”

The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, believes that establishing relations between Baku and Yerevan, two neighboring countries, can lead to progress in negotiations without the need for intermediaries. He made this statement while attending the VI International Conference on Interreligious Dialogue and Global Security in Baku. Aliyev mentioned that the process of defining boundaries and delimiting the border has already begun between Azerbaijan and Armenia, without any interference from intermediaries. He emphasized the importance of peaceful negotiations between the two countries for a peaceful coexistence.

However, it is important to note that the president has been involved in a government that carried out ethnic cleansing in Karabakh, resulting in the deaths of over 140,000 civilians, including Armenians, during the “war.” Presently, Azerbaijan occupies a 200 square kilometer area within the territory of Armenia and is also demanding territorial concessions from the Republic of Armenia. Additionally, Azerbaijan is still holding 20,000 Armenian captives who were formerly part of the Mountainous Karabakh military administration.

These developments have generated news from Armenia, highlighting the ongoing tensions and conflicts between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
