“65-year-old woman attacked and robbed at hotel checkpoint in Kotayk province, police launch investigation”

On April 30, an emergency situation occurred in the Kotayk province of Armenia. A resident of Aghtsaran M., a 65-year-old woman, reported to the National Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations that she had been attacked and robbed by an unknown person. The incident took place at the intersection leading from the Microdistrict of Hrazdan city to Zovaber village, near the checkpoint of the “Marmor” hotel. The assailant, who appeared to be a security guard but later fled the scene, attacked the woman and stole her bag. The police have initiated an investigation to gather more information about the incident.

According to the victim and witnesses, around 4:00 AM, an unidentified individual threw a glass bottle at the reception room window of the hotel where the victim was staying. Fortunately, no one was present in the room when the bottle shattered the window and landed inside. The bottle contained an incendiary liquid, which caught fire. The suspect managed to escape before the fire started.

Law enforcement agencies are currently conducting operational-search and investigative actions to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure the safety of the victim. This case is being treated as a criminal investigation.
