“Yerevan Faces Shortage of Medical and Plastic Waste, Valued at Over 280 Million Drams, Reveals New Study”

The results of the study conducted by the Yerevan Municipality in 2022-2023 on “Environmental and Sanitary Cleaning” have been revealed. The study indicates that there is a shortage of 201 units of medical waste in Yerevan, with a unit value of 138,000 drams and a total value of 27.738 million drams. Additionally, there is a shortage of 2,551 units of plastic waste, with a unit value ranging from 88,500 to 91,750 drams, totaling 257 million drams. Anna Gevorgyan, the Deputy Director of Inspection and Control, announced these findings during the press conference of the Yerevan Municipality on April 29.

In presenting the study results, Gevorgyan also highlighted the lack of packaging and other related products. Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan emphasized the importance of conveying the findings to the responsible authorities. He acknowledged the hard work of everyone involved and stressed the need to address the issue of improper organization and negligence. Avinyan expressed his determination to actively participate in resolving such situations and ensure that the work is carried out according to the set schedule and decisions.
