“The Disputed Territories: Uncovering the Historical Truth of Azerbaijani Settlements in Surrounding Areas of Armenia”

The areas surrounding Adrbejan have never been considered Azerbaijani, according to Samvel Ghukasyan, a resident of Tavush, in an interview with NEWS.am. Ghukasyan highlights the militarization and construction work happening in the border village. He also mentions the scenario with the construction of the Oskapar Church, which is older than Azerbaijan itself. Ghukasyan emphasizes that the villages now considered Azerbaijani were previously inhabited by Azerbaijanis who were forced out, and disputes arose between farmers. He also discusses the issue of road construction and the need to evict settlers from water basins.

Ghukasyan forecasts the next phase after the evacuation of Karantsi and the need to bypass the Tavush region to reach Ijevan. He mentions the difficulties and mountainous terrain that need to be overcome and creates dependencies on private territories. Ghukasyan also notes the living conditions in Azerbaijani-settled villages and the exploitation and persecution faced by the core inhabitants. He concludes by asserting that in Azerbaijan-settled villages, they will live the way they want without repercussions.

It should be noted that Azerbaijani authorities have claimed to have discovered territories that were part of the first war in Artsakh, where Armenians have never settled.
