On April 18, 2024, the Republic of Armenia made a decision (N553-N) that will come into effect on May 1, 2024. This decision pertains to the classification of water, both natural and artificial, with or without gasification or sweetening substances. The water will be subject to state registration and be assigned specific codes (2201 10 110 0, 2201 10 190 0, 2201 10 900 0, 2201 90 000 0), which will determine its ecological classification.
Until April 30, 2024, water that has already been classified under existing registrations cannot be reclassified using the new model. However, from May 1, 2024, water that has been classified under registered classifications can no longer be reclassified using acid-base or lability (NOVEL) indicators. The reclassification methods will now be determined by the main technical technological system of product classification implemented in the ESRI.
This decision by the Republic of Armenia introduces changes in how water is classified and ensures that accurate ecological classifications are applied. These changes will take effect from May 1, 2024, and will continue to be enforced to maintain the integrity of the water classification system in the country.
