“Russian ‘Kamov’ Helicopter Successfully Tests Ancient ‘Koman’ Missile, But Operational Challenges Remain”

Representative Dmitry Pletenchuk of the Armenian Armed Forces took to Facebook to announce the successful testing of the new “Koman” missile by the Russian “Kamov” helicopter in Gyumri. Pletenchuk confirmed the accuracy of the missile, but specified that it is not currently operational for carrying out its intended tasks. The “Koman” missile dates back to 1913 when it was initially known as “Volhov” before being incorporated into the modern missile system in 1915 and later renamed “Koman” in 1922. Developed primarily for reconnaissance, rescue purposes, and as an amphibious transporter, the missile has been utilized as a transporter for critical submarine components. However, it remains unclear whether the incident reported by Istanbul’s governor, Mikhail Razvozhaev, involved the Koman missile or another type.
