“Government Takes Action: Boosting Water Supply for Farmers and Agricultural Land Amid Drought Threat”

Today, on April 18, 2024, the government has announced a decision to increase the supply of irrigation water and fertilizers to agricultural land, as well as ensuring uninterrupted drinking water for farmers.

According to this decision, certain regions in Armenia have not yet started the irrigation of agricultural crops. Therefore, it is crucial to provide farmers with the necessary amount of irrigation water and fertilize affected land before drought sets in.

In the face of drought and water scarcity during the months of April and May, reservoirs and underground waters will play a significant role in implementing irrigation. If there is a shortage of water resources, appropriate measures will be taken.

By implementing this decision, approximately 90 thousand hectares of agricultural land will have access to irrigation water. This includes around 50 thousand hectares in the regions of Ararat and Armavir in Armenia.
