“Violence Erupts in Avan District: Residents Assaulted During Meeting at Constitutional Court”

An incident of violence and physical assault has occurred in the Avan district, as reported by several individuals. During a meeting of the Kokandakan committee of the RA Constitutional Court, multiple incidents took place, including the physical assault of an Avan resident and three others present. This incident occurred on March 7, 2024, in Yerevan, during the transportation of employees of SP, a company in Kotayk Province, and a resident of Avan, V.M.

After the incident, V.M. was intercepted by another vehicle with the registration number “Mazda 3” while in his own vehicle. The individuals in the other vehicle were involved in the earlier incident and engaged in a verbal argument with V.M., which escalated into a physical confrontation. At approximately 7:00 PM, another vehicle blocked V.M.’s vehicle, and a group of individuals physically assaulted him using their hands and feet.

During the turmoil, one of the participants, who was near V.M., used a loud voice amplifier to threaten and intimidate him. This disrupted the traffic flow in that section of the road, preventing other vehicles from moving.

The group forcibly opened the doors of V.M.’s vehicle, immobilized the engine, and hindered the passage of pedestrians in the street. Their aggressive behavior led to physical assaults on individuals near the vehicle.

Based on the confiscated materials, one of the four individuals involved in the incident was charged with Article 171, Part 2, Section 5 of the Criminal Code of the RA. The other three individuals were charged with Article 297, Part 3, Section 2 of the same Code. Two of them were accused of hooliganism, while the other two were accused of disturbing public order.

An investigation was conducted separately for the four perpetrators. Once completed, the relevant information and collected evidence were sent to the prosecutor for approval and submission to the court.

Additionally, according to Mamoul’s information, the individuals involved in the provocation were employees of a company affiliated with Gagik Tsarukyan. It is also reported that Tsarukyan himself was present during the incident.
