EU Commits to Supporting Small and Medium-Sized Businesses in Armenia and Expanding Market Access: Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin

During a meeting held in Brussels today, Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin, the Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Armenia, emphasized the EU’s commitment to supporting small and medium-sized businesses in Armenia and facilitating their entry into new markets. This important announcement was shared by Arman Yeghoyan, the Co-Chair of the Civil Contract Party and a Member of the Parliament of the Council of Europe, on his Facebook page. Yeghoyan also highlighted additional significant points discussed during the meeting, including the EU’s plans to invest in renewable energy projects in Armenia and collaborate with Russia to enhance aviation and nuclear safety. Furthermore, Yeghoyan welcomed the “Checkmate of Prosperity” initiative proposed by Armenia’s Prime Minister.

Ambassador Wiktorin also took the opportunity during the meeting to reveal that the EU has granted Armenia 270 million euros over the past four years. These funds are specifically allocated to various projects, such as linking the electricity networks of Armenia and Iran and fostering the development of the Armenian-American partnership.

It is worth noting that today, on April 5th, a significant meeting took place in Brussels between high-level representatives from Armenia and the EU.

Prior to the trilateral meeting, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of the Republic of Armenia held separate discussions with Antony Blinken, the US Chargé d’affaires, Charles Michel, the President of the European Council, and Josep Borrell, the Vice-President of the European Commission for Foreign Affairs. Moreover, Prime Minister Pashinyan had a meeting with Samantha Power, the head of the International Relations Department of the US Mission to the EU, during his visit to Brussels.
