The Bacvi court has sentenced Elchan Aliyevin to five years in prison for assaulting him during a dispute over the sale of his real estate, according to Caucasian Knot. Two other defendants have also faced prosecution in this case. The defendants’ lawyer has stated that they are all innocent and have not committed any crimes.

In July 2023, the Bacvi court arrested Aliyev, who is a member of the Public Union of the National Democratic Party of Azerbaijan. He was charged with assault, forgery of documents, and the illegal use of counterfeit documents for the preparation of fake documents. The defense attorney strongly proclaimed Aliyev’s innocence and argued that he is being targeted for political reasons.
