“Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan’s Productive Visit to La Francophonie Headquarters in Paris: Strengthening Relations and Addressing Key Issues”

On March 26, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, visited the headquarters of the International Organization of La Francophonie in Paris, France. Pashinyan had a meeting with the Secretary-General of La Francophonie, Louise Mushikiwabo, and the organization’s office director, Denis Seznec. Additionally, he held consultations with representatives of the Council and members of the Diaspora. Pashinyan emphasized the dynamic nature of Armenian-Francophone relations, political dialogue, and cooperation in the Diaspora and previous successful events.

During discussions and Q&A, Prime Minister Pashinyan addressed security issues related to Armenia’s external political situation and ongoing negotiations regarding Nagorno-Karabakh. He stressed that these negotiations are rooted in the principles of the Republic of Armenia, effective foreign policy management, developments in other countries, and negotiations with international structures. The importance of detente was also emphasized.

Pashinyan discussed the security situation in the South Caucasus and the creation of the Iranian-led Northern Coalition, which has positively impacted Armenian-Iranian relations. He reiterated the need to implement provisions on self-determination as prescribed by the 1991 UN Declaration on the Rights of Minorities and Peoples.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the significance of regional and international transportation connections, particularly in the context of territorial and transportation corridors. He specifically mentioned the joint program called “Road to Peace” initiated by the Government of Armenia, which aims to utilize available transportation opportunities.

Pashinyan addressed various questions raised by the participants during the meeting.
