“US Withdraws from Security Council’s Advisory Role in Hostage Release; Israeli President Calls It ‘Defeat in the Conflict'”

The United States has withdrawn from its advisory role in the Security Council, where it had been coordinating the release of hostages in recent days. This announcement was made by the Israeli President’s office in a statement following the advisory of the US Security Council on Security. According to the statement, this marks an overt shift in the US position from the beginning of the conflict and is considered as a defeat for the US. Consequently, the American administration has decided not to send Israeli support, as it had done before.

During an official visit to the United States, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that Israel does not have the right to disrupt the conflict in Gaza. He emphasized the importance of acting together with the US in every aspect, even in areas where they have not been involved previously. The aim is to create a different choice for Hamas and prevent the conflict from escalating closer to their own country. A ceasefire in Gaza is crucial to achieve this goal.

HAMAS has expressed gratitude to the US Security Council for advising on the request for a ceasefire in Gaza. Their hope is that this advisory will lead to the withdrawal of all forces involved in the conflict and the safe return of displaced individuals to their homes. In addition, HAMAS has stated its willingness to participate in the process of exchanging prisoners, based on a mutually agreed-upon procedure that will facilitate the release of prisoners of war from both sides.

These developments in the conflict between Israel and HAMAS have garnered attention globally, including in Armenia and the neighboring regions.
