“Protests in Yerevan Intensify: Activists Demand Release of Detainees, Threaten Self-Immolation”

A tense and volatile situation has recently erupted in Yerevan. According to photographer Gagik Shamshyan’s report, a group of citizens, primarily members of the March Civic Initiative, has gathered near the New Nork District of the Administration of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia. They are demanding the release of their fellow activists, whom they believe have been unlawfully detained. As the protests intensify, individuals have resorted to throwing stones at the police station. Additionally, two protesters have even gone so far as to threaten self-immolation if their demands are not met. Consequently, numerous clashes have ensued between the protesters and the police.
