The head of the MCC, Antonio Guterres, has called for urgent action to establish peace between Israel and Hamas. Guterres made this statement during a trip to the Egyptian side of the gas-rich Raffah city. He expressed concern about the possibility of a large-scale conflict and urged the international community to end their silence and help the suffering residents near the range of loaded carriers. More than half of the city’s population has been displaced from their homes due to the gas crisis. Guterres emphasized that further escalation would worsen the situation for the people of the region and the displaced residents.
