Today, Mesrop Mashtots Matenadaran hosted the opening of the “Portrait’s Possession” exhibition, dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the renowned Armenian painter Andrey Sevrukian.

During the opening ceremony, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, Arayik Martirosyan, the director of the Matenadaran, Ara Khzmalyan, the head of the IIAS National Program and International Relations, Mehti Sobhani, and the director of the Eastern Studies Department of the Matenadaran, Ivett Tajaryan, were present.

Minister Arayik Martirosyan welcomed the participants, highlighting that the exhibition dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Andrey Sevrukian is a significant contribution to the rich and diverse cultural relations between Armenia and Iran, which have a long historical tradition and continue to develop in the field of art and culture.

Andrey Sevrukian’s abstract art is called “poetic painting.” “By observing his works, it becomes clear that it is impossible not to feel their emotional and spiritual impact, conveyed through symbolism and transformation. In this way, Sevrukian conveys his desires and thoughts,” Ara Khzmalyan emphasized.

The participation of the distinguished guests was praised by the director of the Matenadaran, Ara Khzmalyan, who expressed gratitude to them for their contribution to the realization of this important project and highlighted the fruitful cooperation between the two countries in the fields of education, science, and culture.

Art historian and specialist in the field, Mehti Sobhani, expressed his gratitude to the participants, noting that the presence of such experts contributes to the better recognition and understanding of the cultural and historical ties between the two countries.

The exhibition will last until the 130th anniversary of Andrey Sevrukian’s birth, and it is expected to be presented at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and other museums, demonstrating the successful continuation of collaboration in the fields of education, science, and culture between the two countries.

I am confident that the participation of experts will help strengthen the friendly and fruitful cooperation between the two countries in the field of education, science, and culture, and will contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of the current geopolitical developments and past events. Historical events and memories surpass the current political situation and form the foundation for the future development of our countries,” said Ara Khzmalyan, summarizing the exhibition.
