“Thousands of Displaced Residents yet to Return to Karabakh Region, New Government Data Reveals”

The government of the Republic of Armenia has recently released new data concerning the residents displaced from the mountainous Karabakh region. According to the latest information provided by the Armenian government, only 7,825 residents have returned from Armenia to the mountainous Karabakh region within a five-month period. This leaves 13,619 residents who have not yet returned.

Between September 2023 and March 4, 2024, a total of 13,619 registered residents from the mountainous Karabakh region were relocated from Armenia. Out of this number, only 5,794 have returned thus far.

Presently, there are 101,848 individuals registered as displaced from the mountainous Karabakh region, including 30,000 children. Out of these, 72,626 people reside in the provinces, while the remaining individuals are in Yerevan.

The government has also disclosed that they are in discussions regarding measures to aid the displaced residents. This may involve initiatives such as housing construction and the provision of social housing for those who lack sufficient financial means. The government’s data indicates that there are 8,277 Artsakh families currently residing in Armenia.
