“Minister of Education Launches ‘IMPROVET Capacity Building’ Program to Enhance Vocational Education in Armenia”

Araxia Svajyan, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, recently participated in the official launch of the “IMPROVET Capacity Building” program, which aims to improve vocational education in Armenia. The event was attended by several notable individuals, including Ruben Sargsyan, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Yan Plesinger, Director of the Center for Vocational Education Development, and Lana Karlova, Head of the National Training Department of the “Erasmus +” program in Armenia.

The program is a collaborative effort between various institutions, such as the Educational and Research Center of Franco-Armenian Studies, Gyumri State Medical College, Leonie SEPR Compus, Apro Formazione Center in Italy, and HovakimyanLab Applied Robotics Laboratory. Its main goal is to enhance the quality of vocational education in Armenia, and Minister Svajyan expressed her gratitude towards the participants, emphasizing the program’s significance in bringing new opportunities to the field.

She further highlighted the inclusion of educational accreditation from Armenia, France, and Italy, as well as the cooperation in implementing educational programs. This collaboration provides an invaluable opportunity for Armenia to learn from European best practices and improve students’ abilities and educational programs accordingly.

During the Minister’s speech, she also touched upon the transformative changes occurring in vocational education in Armenia. This includes the introduction of new standards, the establishment of institutional foundations, qualification mapping, the identification of valuable skills, and the development of educational policies.

The “IMPROVET Capacity Building” program is being implemented in three stages. Firstly, it focuses on integrating digital technologies into “Applied Robotics.” Secondly, it introduces new approaches to vocational assessment. Finally, it incorporates socio-medical support through the use of digital tools.

This initiative is an important step towards further advancing vocational education in Armenia and equipping students with the necessary skills for success in their chosen careers.
