A Nigerian soldier has been reported killed and 16 others have been killed in a clash with armed militants in the Delta region at the beginning of this week, according to AP. The incident took place in the Okouma community where the 181st battalion soldiers were attacked on Friday, as explained by Brigadier General Tukur Gusau. The casualties include a captain, two lieutenants, one corporal, and twelve soldiers. In response to the incident, the head of security operations has ordered an investigation and called for the arrest of the perpetrators. The Niger Delta region has experienced numerous attacks and attempts to sabotage, such as the bombing of oil or energy facilities.
