Prime Minister Expresses Concern Over Donations for 2022 COP Event: Calls for Transparency and Accountability

I am deeply concerned about this topic and I believe that unity and cooperation from both the public and the authorities are crucial. While there is certainly a problem, it is important that it does not persist, as we need clarity and resolution. During my visit to Mamuli’s Asulis on March 12, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed his dissatisfaction with the donation of money for the 2022 COP event. It has come to light that these donations have not been properly accounted for. A journalist questioned Pashinyan about the whereabouts and spending of these donations, referencing a previous statement by the prime minister regarding government funds allocated to the party’s expenses. Pashinyan replied that he, as former prime minister, would not have knowledge of the campaign fund or its transactions. He stated that efforts are being made to address the issue and acknowledged that mistakes can be made. The head of the campaign emphasized that organizational work in political activities should not be carried out without proper oversight. It is believed that the success of the campaign depends more on passion and dedication rather than solely on financial resources. The campaign in Armenia is often associated with fundraising, but it remains uncertain as to the contributions made by supporters. The prime minister questioned the availability of funds in other campaigns, suggesting that proof should be provided to validate these claims. It is clear that the campaign does not operate as a traditional money box and it is important to establish transparency regarding the use of funds.
