Armenia Introduces New Mechanism to Monitor Integrity of Judges, Prosecutors, and Law Enforcement Officials

Armenia is set to establish a mechanism for regularly monitoring the integrity of judges, prosecutors, and law enforcement officials in positions of internal leadership. The proposed amendments to the constitutional law will improve supervision over corruption monitoring systems and introduce new institutions. The project aims to strengthen control mechanisms for preventing corruption in the judiciary, promoting transparency, and enhancing the continuous professional development of judges, prosecutors, and law enforcement officials. Measures will be implemented to ensure that the judiciary remains active and accountable, and that courtrooms are regularly audited. These changes are an important part of the anti-corruption package being incorporated into the daily operations of the judiciary in Armenia.

Vladimir Vardanyan, the head of the Office of the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, expressed support for the proposed regulations. He emphasized the significance of clarifying procedures when individuals face negative circumstances, as it contributes to objective assessment and helps combat corruption.

This development in Armenia demonstrates the country’s commitment to combating corruption and promoting transparency within its judicial system. By implementing these amendments, Armenia aims to strengthen the integrity of its judiciary and ensure that judges, prosecutors, and law enforcement officials receive ongoing professional development to better serve the public.
