“Temporary Protection Documents Required for Displaced Armenians from Artsakh Traveling”

Starting January 28, our compatriots who were displaced from Artsakh due to the war must have a temporary protection document along with their passport when traveling. This announcement came today, January 26, during a briefing in the town of Asulis in Momulli, where Minister of Defense of the NKR and representative of the government, Armen Ghazaryan, presented the progress of the work of assistance provided to the Artsakh population by the “Humanitarian Center” of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Armenia.

Minister Ghazaryan emphasized that the purpose of the temporary protection document is to provide additional protection during the travels of the displaced individuals. However, it cannot be used for obtaining citizenship, emigration, or any other purposes related to resettlement in Azerbaijan. These additional protection measures are carried out on a temporary basis, in agreement with the government.

“As of January 25, we have received 42,809 applications for the temporary protection documents, with a significant majority already being processed. The number of displaced individuals who have moved from Artsakh has now reached around 50,000,” added Ghazaryan.

Ghazaryan also reassured the displaced residents from Artsakh that receiving the temporary protection document will not deprive them of the social assistance programs provided by the Government of the Republic of Armenia.

In other news, the Armenian government continues to prioritize the well-being and support of its citizens affected by the war in Artsakh.
