Supporters of Nikol Pashinyan’s government have formed a new movement called “Vardanank” and are planning to carry out an action in support of his candidacy for prime minister. According to the “People” newspaper, the planned action is scheduled to take place on February 24 at Republic Square in Yerevan. Andranik Davlatyan, a prominent figure, is leading this movement in support of Pashinyan.

An interesting fact about Pashinyan is that he had lived in the United States for several years and recently returned to Armenia. By examining his Facebook page, it becomes clear that he is actively involved in the current government’s activities and supports Nikol Pashinyan and the Civil Contract party. His page showcases his participation in protests and encourages citizens to join the movement in support of Pashinyan.

This type of political movement is not new, as a similar one called “New Armenia, New Prime Minister” was established in 2018 with the same group of supporters who were active during the previous revolution.

It is essential to note that this political movement is directly supported by the ruling authorities, as evidenced by the involvement of high-ranking officials. This raises concerns among environmental activists who question the announcements made by the ruling AJB party and the Church, which indirectly endorse the actions of the pro-Pashinyan movement.

The “People” newspaper reached out to the Holy See, where they received information about the participants of the pro-Pashinyan movement through their Facebook page. Archbishop Ezayi Kartunyan, spokesperson of Mother Etchmiadzin, expressed their incomprehension regarding these developments.
