“Prominent Armenian Journalist’s Petition Deleted by Judicial Department: Controversial Move Sparks Outrage”

Aram Asatryan, a prominent Armenian journalist, recently found himself at the center of controversy. The official Facebook page of the RA Judicial Department unexpectedly deleted Asatryan’s ongoing petition, claiming it violated the “self-censorship” regime. This sudden move was announced by lawyer Ruben Melikyan in a post on his Facebook page.

Melikyan further commented on the significance of the publication, stating that it belonged to a realm of fictional stories filled with fantasy. According to him, the fact that a petition was filed to carry out such a publication spoke volumes about its author.

In response to these developments, a former lawyer who worked in the judicial system for almost 5 years expressed his surprise. He claimed that in all his time in the profession, he had never encountered any controversial actions or comments related to the building in question. The lawyer questioned the timing of the accusations, emphasizing that the building had no such history and had its own visible issues to address.

Another point of contention arose from the published text, as it resembled a ruling by Judge Dalmazyan. This led to questions regarding which specific ruling is being referred to – a previous one or a new one. If it is the former, then imprisoning Asatryan solely for his fight for freedom would no longer be justifiable. If it is a new ruling, then the public is yet to be informed about it, calling for daily calls to the court to demand transparency.

It is clear that the struggle for Asatryan’s freedom has sparked controversy both within and outside the country. The regime’s resorting to desperate and severe measures only highlights the gravity of the situation.

These latest developments from Armenia raise important questions about freedom of expression and the role of the judicial system. As the story continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how the situation will develop and whether justice will prevail.
