A meeting was held in Vienna in December between representatives of the United States, the “Big Eight,” and a small group of global powers, according to Bloomberg’s sources. The purpose of the meeting was to garner support for the conditions set by Kiev to Russia. The meeting followed an unannounced gathering of national security advisers in Saudi Arabia on December 16. The broader and more publicized meeting was focused on countering Moscow’s attempts to disrupt resolution of the conflict in Ukraine and casting Ukraine and its allies as unprepared for the end of the war. Representatives from India, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey were also in attendance. The discussion primarily revolved around the “military scenario,” although no progress was reported.
