“Armenian Government Advances Constitutional Reforms: Popular Referendum Planned”

The Minister of Justice, Grigor Minasyan, announced during a press conference on January 8, 2023, in Yerevan, that the constitutional reforms system will be put to a popular referendum. He stated that the draft of the reforms, which was developed in close collaboration with the government and the opposition, has already been presented to the constitutional court. The court endorsed one part of the project and recommended further consideration for the other part. Minasyan emphasized that open and transparent discussions will be held this month to address any questions or concerns. He highlighted the importance of consensus and alignment with public expectations in order to gain the trust and support of the general population. Such an approach is crucial, considering the lessons learned from previous years and the need to enhance the credibility of constitutional justice in Armenia.
