“Introducing the Yenko Turbo Z: The Powerhouse Sports Car Built on the Chevrolet Camaro Platform”

The Yenko Turbo Z, which is based on the Chevrolet Camaro, is set to hit the market soon. According to Motor.ru, there were only 19 of these cars produced, and the one being sold is equipped with a more powerful Stage II package. Out of the three cars built with this modification, this example is one of them.

The Stage II version of the Yenko Turbo Z had a starting price of $17,500, while the Stage I version started at $11,300. The regular Camaro Z/28 had prices slightly higher, starting from $18,000. In terms of performance, the Yenko Turbo Z had a more powerful engine with approximately 250 horsepower and was able to accelerate to 60 mph in 14.52 seconds. The fuel consumption of these cars was comparable, averaging 13.1 liters per 100 kilometers in urban conditions and approximately 10.7 liters on the highway.

This model holds significance as it was the last project for Don Yenko for Chevrolet. Introduced in 1981, the last batch was produced in 1982, marking the end of a 50-year cooperation between Yenko and the American manufacturer and dealers.

The most powerful Yenko prototype will be showcased at Mecum’s, with an estimated value of $60,000-$80,000 based on preliminary calculations.

The Chevrolet Camaro has its own rich history. In December 2023, the latest version of the model was released by the American car manufacturer.
