Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan Meets Azerbaijan’s President Aliyev in Russia, Progress Made on Ceasefire Agreement

Armenia’s Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, recently visited Russia on a two-day official trip. The purpose of his visit was to meet with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, as part of the trilateral agreement signed by the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Russia in Saint Petersburg.

According to sources from the “Kommersant” newspaper, both parties are actively working on the implementation of the ceasefire agreement. It is expected that this agreement will be signed within a short period of time. This ongoing effort shows that progress is being made towards maintaining a lasting peace in the region.

However, it is vital to note that the November events in Saint Petersburg were significant because they marked the first meeting between Prime Minister Pashinyan and President Aliyev since the September ceasefire agreement between the Republic of Artsakh and Azerbaijan.

In September, following a one-day military operation by Azerbaijan, the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic ceased to exist. This event marked a turning point in the conflict and set the stage for further negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The recent meeting in Saint Petersburg signifies a step towards resolution and stability in the region.

Overall, it is evident that both Armenia and Azerbaijan are committed to working towards a peaceful solution. The ongoing communication and meetings between leaders demonstrate a shared desire for stability and cooperation. With continued efforts, it is hopeful that a lasting ceasefire will be achieved, bringing peace and prosperity to the region.
