“Roads Closed: Travel Alert in Armenia as Snowfall Hits Several Regions”

The rescue service has reported that there are currently closed roads in the Republic of Armenia. Specifically, the roads leading from the high mountain meteorological station “Amberd” in Aragatsotn province to the Amberd fortress and the Stone Lake are inaccessible. Additionally, the Vardenyats Pass, also known as the “book and blood” pass, is closed for trucks. In various sections such as Jermuk city in Vayots Dzor province, Tathev-Ltsen, Goris-Syunik, Syunik-“Zanger”, Aparan in Aragatsotn province, and the Ararat and Talin regions, intermittent road closures are being experienced.

In several areas, including Saravan-“Zanger”, “Meghrur Sar” sections, Ashotsk, Amasia, Ani, Ararat region, Aparan, Talin, Hrazdan, Gyumri, and Jermuk cities, snowfall has been reported. Information obtained from the Emergency Situations Ministry of the Republic of Armenia and the Center for Crisis Management of the Russian Federation’s Southern Ossetia states that the Stepanakert-Lars highway is closed to all types of transportation.
