“Ukrainian President Zelensky: Russia Uninterested in Renewing Relations, Says Joint Peace Plan Offers Hope”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has emphasized that the prospect of renewing relations with Russia is currently not a priority for both sides, as stated in a report by UNIAN. Zelensky made this statement during his annual press conference while responding to a question regarding the conditions under which Ukraine and Russia can mend their relationship. He highlighted a global peace plan that he believes provides the best opportunity for progress and mentioned a recent successful meeting held in Malta with the participation of nearly 80 countries. Following this meeting, Zelensky plans to initiate work with a “working group of senior officials” to further organize the process. However, he expressed skepticism regarding the willingness of Russia to engage in negotiations, citing their lack of action and involvement in hybrid warfare. The Ukrainian President concluded that until Russia displays readiness to accept the proposed document, there is currently no active negotiation process between the two nations.
