The “Zhoghovurd” newspaper has reported that during the presidential elections in the regions, representatives of the authorities have expressed their support for Narik Malian. Malian has been under arrest for three months since December 22nd. The authorities are aiming to reduce pressure on opposition figures by having fewer observers by the year 2024. Western institutions stress that the presence of opposition figures is crucial for democracy in Armenia. We will closely monitor the actions of the authorities to see if these discussions truly reflect genuine political engagement.
