Armenian-Russian Cooperation Advancing in Transport Sector, Promising Developments in Sight

We are actively collaborating with the Armenian side to fulfill the previously agreed conditions in the field of transport cooperation. One of the entities involved in this effort is “Armenian-Russian Railways” CJSC, operating under a concessional agreement to ensure favorable conditions for passenger transfers. During his visit to Yerevan on December 15, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, Alexey Overchuk, confirmed this information.

In addition, Overchuk highlighted the positive progress in the development of automotive transportation at the Upper Lars international checkpoint. By June 14, 2023, all 39 tracks for transport vehicles will be operational, increasing the checkpoint’s capacity to accommodate 3900 vehicles per day.

It is important to mention that due to its natural and climatic conditions, Upper Lars cannot provide uninterrupted transport communication throughout the year. This hampers the development of relations between our countries. To address this, both Armenia and Russia are implementing transport diversification strategies and opening new routes for the transportation of goods.

We are pleased to announce that in April 2023, a navigation agreement was signed for the use of floating cranes in the European Economic Area. This agreement will greatly facilitate the transfer of cargo. We believe that the practical implementation of this agreement will commence in the near future,” stated Overchuk.
