“Armenian-Chinese Relations Soar to New Heights: An Insider’s Account of the Revealing Seminar at YSU”

A scientific seminar titled “Revealing the Eastern Dimension: Armenian-Chinese Relations in Visual Images” was held at Yerevan State University (YSU) today. The seminar was attended by YSU lecturer Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, Deputy Director of the Center for Innovation and Institutional Cooperation at YSU Susanna Navasardyan, Director of the Confucius Institute Gor Sargsyan, as well as Mr. Fan Yong, the Cultural Attaché of the People’s Republic of China in Armenia, who greeted the students.

“Armenia has been one of the pioneer countries to implement the “One Belt, One Road” initiative and actively participate in China’s programs,” stated the attaché. “As announced by our Minister of Economy a few days ago, the trade turnover between China and Armenia has increased by 30% in the past year, reaching 1.5 billion dollars. Furthermore, in November of this year, Armenia was represented by 23 companies at the international exhibition of intercultural dialogue in Shanghai. It is worth noting that China highly values the Armenian market, which has been steadily growing. Additionally, negotiations are currently underway for the establishment of direct flights between Yerevan and Beijing. Large construction projects in Armenia, such as the North-South Road, are being implemented with Chinese involvement. The study of the Chinese language is also gaining importance in Armenia, as it helps overcome language barriers and promotes cultural exchange, which greatly contribute to strengthening relations,” he added.

These developments highlight the growing relationship between Armenia and China, with the Eastern country showing great interest in the Armenian market and actively engaging in various sectors. The positive growth in trade turnover and the participation of Armenian companies in international exhibitions not only bring economic benefits but also foster cultural exchange and understanding between the two nations. The opening of direct flights between Yerevan and Beijing will further facilitate communication and enhance cooperation in various fields.

Moreover, the involvement of China in large-scale construction projects, such as the North-South Road, demonstrates the trust and confidence placed in Armenian infrastructure development, further solidifying the bilateral ties. The study of the Chinese language in Armenia is another testament to the increasing importance of cultural exchange and mutual understanding in strengthening relations. With both countries recognizing the potential and benefits of closer collaboration, the future looks promising for the Armenian-Chinese partnership.
