“Revamped Lada Niva to Get Powerful 1.8-Liter Engine: Motor.ru Reveals Exciting Details”

Lada Niva is set to receive a new engine, with reports stating that it will have a power of around 90 horsepower and a volume of 1.8 liters. This new engine is said to be the highly anticipated 1.8 Evo engine for the Vesta model, indicating significant improvements compared to the previous CVT. According to AvtoVAZ, the engine incorporates 25 new components, promising enhanced performance.

The turbocharged engine with eight blades is expected to boost the power output to approximately 90 horsepower, surpassing the 1.7-liter engine with 83 horsepower found in the standard Niva Travel and Niva Legend models. However, it falls short of the 122 horsepower produced by the 16-valve 1.8 engine found in the Niva Sport.

Sources indicate that the new engine will be specifically designed for the Vesta model, featuring the 1.8 Evo powertrain. The engine will include 25 new components, such as “unchained” cylinders and increased airflow sensors by 30 percent. Additionally, new polymer intake manifolds are expected to be part of the package. Despite these enhancements, the power output will reportedly remain the same at 122 horsepower.

AvtoVAZ plans to release 25 Vesta cars with the 1.8 Evo engine and CVT in December, which will be used for workshop purposes rather than being available for sale. Serial production is scheduled to begin in January 2024, with the Togliatti plant commencing the assembly of cars equipped with the new engine and manual transmission by the end of the year.
