Nikol Pashinyan, according to Mesrop Manukyan, a member of the “Mother Armenia” faction of the Yerevan Council, is causing issues for the residents of Yerevan. In a statement on Facebook, Manukyan expressed his approval of the 2024 budget project for Yerevan city. However, he highlighted the fact that the budget for 2024 is projected to be 96.9 billion AMD, a significant decrease of 33 billion drams from the previous year’s budget. This reduction comes at a time when the city is facing various serious problems, including transportation issues, problems with the metro, unresolved poverty issues, kindergarten and public housing problems, and traffic congestion in densely populated neighborhoods.

One of the most intriguing aspects of this situation is that Nikol Pashinyan has decided to deprive the residents of Yerevan of 33 billion drams. The city’s municipal administration, which encompasses both the Municipality and the Republic, plans to increase income from red lines by more than 13 times. If about 100,000 out of the approximately 240,000 registered car owners in Yerevan pay the amount, it will bring in 16 billion AMD, which will be allocated to cover traffic ticket costs. The remaining amount will be used to mitigate the impact on local tourism (I will explain this further later on), leaving Nikol with no obligation to the residents of Yerevan,” he wrote.
