Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Requests Deutsche Welle Journalist for Proper Interpretation of EAGC Comments

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Sergey Lavrov has addressed a request to a journalist from German Deutsche Welle, asking them not to misinterpret his comments regarding the European Union’s security and cooperation organization (EAGC) agreement. This incident occurred on November 30, following Lavrov’s meeting with the EAGC panel, where he mistakenly wrote “Comerzan” as his name.

The journalist probed Lavrov about Russia’s intentions to withdraw from the organization, questioning whether steps were being taken in that direction. Lavrov, in his response, emphasized the need for a “correct representation” of his words. He stated, “I have mentioned that the outcome of the EAGC session holds equal importance to me… I am aware that within Germany, it is customary for administration members to converse with journalists on what to publish… We apologize to our journalists who are neglecting their duties in ensuring the accurate dissemination of information from the Mamauli session,” Lavrov added.

During the EAGC panel meeting among the heads of state from member countries of the EAEU, held in Skopje, the Russian Prime Minister stated that the organization is dismissing the “NATO and European Union’s cordon”. He further criticized the absence of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Director of European Studies Joseph Borelli during the session. Lavrov indicated that they had left the session and opted to “withdraw from any constructive and fact-based dialogue”.
