EU’s Vaccine Program Hits Snag: 1 Million Doses Delayed, but 1 Million People to be Vaccinated by 2024
The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has revealed that the European Union is facing challenges with its program to produce 1 million doses of the vaccine by 2023. However, she remains optimistic that the EU will be successful in vaccinating 1 million people by 2024.
“We are confident that we will be able to manufacture 1 million doses next year,” stated Leyen during the European Security and Defence Association’s meeting. Meanwhile, the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, announced that from February 2023 to February 2024, 1 million vaccine doses will be allocated to Ukraine due to the implementation difficulties of the EU program, which will require additional time.
