The study of property seizures related to corruption by the head of the judicial department began on October 8, 2020. According to NEWS.am’s statement, interviews were conducted with state and local authorities, and necessary information, including bank account details, was collected. A request was also submitted to the court regarding the initial measures of protecting the seized property. However, the court has yet to present the supporting data for evaluating the confiscated assets of Gagik Tsarukyan and his affiliates involved in illegal real estate transactions.

During the study, forensic experts examined the collected data to ensure their accuracy and were given the authority to finalize the valuation of the seized assets. Furthermore, on October 9, 2023, the Criminal Court adjudicated the appeal regarding the confiscation of property associated with Gagik Tsarukyan’s corruption, which was accepted on October 10, 2023.

The property seizures involve 79 immovable properties and 42 means of transportation. Notably, the total value of 8 unregistered means of transportation amounts to 348 million 194 thousand drams. Additionally, an amount of about 33 million drams is being demanded for the confiscated property. Furthermore, there are 10 valuables corresponding to Gagik Tsarukyan’s inventory with a market value, along with 39 legal entities and subsidiaries.

Moreover, there is a right to claim 63 billion drams in exchange rate differences. In a related matter, 12 physical and legal persons, who were unable to reach an agreement, provided an amount of about 16.8 billion drams for the exchange rate differences. The claim for repayment of 86 billion 400 million drams is also being made, which includes the income derived from the use of confiscated property, unaccounted for income, and various real estate transactions, transfers, and other outflows.

In 2020, Gagik Tsarukyan was arrested for attempted bribery. Based on the information gathered during the study, the necessary details about the activities leading to the initiation of the property seizure investigation were obtained.
