“Automakers Take a Stand Against Management, Demand Higher Wages and Transparency”

Automakers are taking part in a protest action on November 23, in opposition to the management’s decision. Their main concern is the need for higher wages based on their calculations. A participant of the protest pointed out that the prices of imported cars are much higher compared to local prices, causing many customers to wait a few months for a better and more reliable car. However, companies claim to have transparent transactions without any hidden costs, abiding by the rules and regulations. The CEO of a car import and sales company emphasized the need for a 20% profit margin, as required by law, and stated that if companies had such profits, they wouldn’t be participating in the protest. Similarly, an automotive journalist with firsthand war experience mentioned that the required 20% profit from a car sale is not standard practice. Automakers argue that the increasing cost of cars is due to additional taxes imposed on imports. It is noteworthy that a new package of changes and amendments to the Tax Code of Armenia, affecting car imports, will be in effect from December 1.
