“Armenian Government Collaborates with UNICEF to Amplify Children’s Voices in Decision-Making Process”

The government representatives actively participated in a public discussion on the rights of children and youth at the MIP auditorium. During the government session on November 23rd, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that the involvement of the public in government discussions is guaranteed by the UNICEF Convention on the Rights of the Child, which Armenia ratified on November 20th, 1989.

Pashinyan highlighted that the advisory board comprises 21 children, with 13 of them also being members of the government session. He emphasized that the participation of the public in decision-making processes and government work is endorsed by UNICEF. The representative of UNICEF in Armenia, Christin Weyand, will actively participate in the session, according to Pashinyan.

Pashinyan expressed gratitude to the children for their willingness to ask questions, express opinions, and engage with government officials during each discussion. He encouraged them to freely voice themselves and see what fruitful outcomes can be achieved.
