“Government Allocates 1.4 Billion Drams for Meghri Border Checkpoint Construction and Margara Customs Point Renovation”
The government has made a decision to allocate 1.4 billion drams for the construction works of the Meghri border checkpoint and the renovation of the “Margara” customs point. These funds will also cover the costs of rental properties and technical equipment for border and customs officers. The contracts for the construction works and engineering services have already been signed with “Tana Energy Management” and “Roughton” for the amounts of 22,194,650.4 euros and 1,345,500.0 euros respectively. Payments for the services provided and future works are necessary until the end of 2023.
Furthermore, the State Committee of Real Estate Cadastre will procure technical equipment, including rental and mechanical equipment for border and customs officers, for the purpose of organizing construction works for the “Margara” customs point. The procurement is estimated to cost 168,031.4 thousand drams.
The funds for these projects are part of the annual budget planned for 2023 and are allocated according to loan agreements provided by the World Bank. The corrected annual plan of the state budget allocates 947.7 million drams, with 789.8 million drams for loans and 158.0 million drams for funding mechanisms implemented by the RA. The payments for these funds are paid in accordance with the agreements and invoices.
In total, 2,165.4 million drams are planned to be allocated for the implementation of the program based on the state budget of the RA for 2023. Of this amount, 1,804.5 million drams are allocated by the World Bank and 360.9 million drams by the RA-funded funding.
