“Armenian Customs Discovers Illicit Tobacco Shipment Disguised as Apricot Red Ball Product”

The PEC Yerevan’s Customs Service and Warehouse, in collaboration with the Department of Administration, Customs, and Border Protection, have uncovered an illegal transportation case involving tobacco products. According to the information and communication department, they were notified about the importation of a package with a physical name of a US postal service into Armenia. Upon inspection, it was found that the package contained tobacco disguised as the product “Apricot Red Ball” with the intention of distributing it illegally.

The recipient of the package remains unidentified, and the tobacco has been seized. As the temporary storage period has expired, the confiscated tobacco will be destroyed following the established procedure. The seized tobacco weighed 1388 grams and bore a resemblance to cocaine due to its white substance-like appearance. However, further investigation revealed that the white substance is a type of tobacco called “methamphetamin”.

In connection with this case of drug trafficking, the Customs Committee of Armenia has released a corresponding statement in accordance with Article 399 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. The necessary materials have been forwarded to the RA Investigative Committee for further investigation.

This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of the authorities to combat illegal activities related to the transportation and distribution of prohibited substances. The collaboration between the various departments involved demonstrates a commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the public.
