“US Vice President Mike Pence Gets Direct Answer on China’s Responsibility for COVID-19 as US-China Relations Continue to Tense”

In a recent interview with ABC News, US Vice President Mike Pence directly addressed the question of whether Chinese President Xi Jinping is responsible for the coronavirus. The question was posed by the director of the US Department of External Affairs during the interview on November 16. Interestingly, the director reminded Blinken of a moment captured on television cameras the day before, when an American reporter referred to Xi Jinping as the “vice president of China” during a conversation with the Chinese president. In response, the American expert stated, “No, it’s not true that we (China and the US) have very different [political] systems. And President Biden always speaks the truth and he speaks for all of us.”

Furthermore, the expert expressed confidence that Washington understands the need for a different approach to their relationship with Beijing, one that aligns with the wishes of the American society. Blinken emphasized that the differences between China and the United States are of utmost importance for the international community, particularly the United Nations. He emphasized the desire for healthy competition, without allowing it to descend into conflict.

Earlier, US State Department spokesperson Ned Price denounced Beijing’s announcement of Biden as the “vice president of China” as “extremely wrong and inappropriate.” Price argued that such attempts will always be against the interests of the American people, according to a report from NEWS.am.
