Committee for Election Security Raises Alarm on Rising Benzene Smuggling Prices, Calls for Urgent Action in Armenia

The Committee for Election Security is currently focusing on monitoring the issue of benzene smuggling. This committee diligently carries out its activities, adhering to a daily routine, in order to prevent uncontrolled trafficking of benzene and maintain stable prices in the market.

According to a report by NEWS.am, the committee’s research on international markets has revealed an increase in the prices of benzene. Considering the logical expenses and taxes paid by the taxpayers in Armenia, the committee confirms that the operating prices of benzene in Armenia are justified.

This raises the question of whether the higher prices of benzene trafficking in other countries compared to Armenia are influenced by internal mechanisms used for subsidizing the domestic market.

The committee also maintains constant communication with taxpayers, providing them with timely information. It’s worth mentioning that retailers of benzene have experienced a reduction in their profits due to the price increase, which aims to create an environment for further price hikes.
