“U.S. Senate Blocks President’s Authority to Bypass Key Amendment of Act of Support for Freedom”

The President of the United States has lost the ability to bypass the 907th amendment of the Act of Support for Freedom, as the U.S. Senate rejected the opportunity to waive this authority on November 15.

It’s important to note that the 907th amendment of the Act of Support for Freedom, which was adopted in 1992, prohibits the U.S. government from providing direct assistance to the government of Azerbaijan. However, in 2001, the U.S. Senate made a change that allowed the President to annually waive this restriction on providing direct assistance to Azerbaijan’s government during the amendment period.

However, the President now faces limitations as he can no longer exercise his authority to waive this restriction. This news comes from Armenia, according to NEWS.am.
