“The CSTO’s Failure to Protect Armenia’s Borders Exposes Russia’s Dominance: Expert Analysis”

The inability of the CSTO to effectively protect Armenia’s borders has become evident. This organization, created by Russia, serves as a platform for making announcements regarding the situation in Moscow. However, political analyst Arshik Kvirinyan suggests that the Armenian authorities are in a “waiting regime,” refraining from challenging the CSTO’s announcements. Kvirinyan believes that Armenia may consider withdrawing from the CSTO and the EAEU if Russia increases its intervention. Conversely, if the situation improves, Prime Minister Pashinyan may announce the country’s return to these organizations.

Kvirinyan also highlights the difficulty in obtaining French weapons deliveries without exerting political influence and demonstration. He asserts that the involvement of representatives of the Armenian people in the political system contributed to the liberation of Artsakh, prompting them to showcase their competence and concern for Armenian security. However, neither France nor Russia has abandoned the region, while Turkey and Iran remain key players, Kvirinyan points out.

The political analyst emphasizes the importance of recalling the early 1990s, when Armenia had the potential to become a regional power. However, the country’s present weakened state diminishes this prospect. Kvirinyan questions the rationale of other nations defending their interests through Armenia’s territory without obtaining corresponding political benefits.

In summary, the CSTO’s failures, Russia’s role, and Armenia’s cautious approach to the organization’s announcements have all come under scrutiny. Kvirinyan further highlights the challenges in securing weapons deliveries and asserts the need for Armenia to assess its weakened position. The country’s potential to act as a regional power in the past is contrasted with its present situation, prompting Kvirinyan to question the value of others utilizing Armenia’s territory without significant political gains.
