“Survey Reveals: Georgia Viewed as Main Political Threat for Russia by Majority of Respondents”

A recent survey conducted by the International Republican Institute (IRI) in Georgia has revealed that 77 percent of respondents in Russia consider Georgia to be the main political threat to their country. Additionally, 69 percent of Russians perceive Georgia as a security risk. On the other hand, Turkey views Russia as the primary political threat to their nation, with 12 percent of respondents holding this perception. In terms of security risk, 11 percent of Turkish respondents consider Russia to be the main concern.

Interestingly, the majority of Georgian citizens see the European Union as their primary partner, with 51 percent expressing this sentiment. The United States follows closely behind with 32 percent considering them a key partner. Other notable partners for Georgia include Azerbaijan (19 percent), Ukraine (17 percent), Turkey (16 percent), Armenia (9 percent), and Russia (9 percent).

When it comes to the business sector, the European Union emerges as the primary partner for Georgian businesses, with 43 percent of respondents highlighting their importance. The United States ranks second in this category, with 31 percent of businesses considering them a major partner. Turkey (28 percent), Azerbaijan (24 percent), Russia (16 percent), China (12 percent), Ukraine (12 percent), Armenia (8 percent), and Israel (5 percent) also feature prominently as partners for Georgian businesses.

This recent survey sheds light on the perceptions and partnerships of both the general population and the business community in Georgia. It highlights the varying perspectives on political threats and security risks between Russia and Georgia, as well as the significant role played by the European Union and the United States in the country’s international relations.
